SMALL BUSINESS MARKETING TIPS
1.Try mailing a postcard with your best ad to your targeted market. People read postcards when the message is short. Include your web address to drive people to your website.
2. Vary your approach to marketing. No single effort works all the time for every business. Take advantage of the different opportunties to communicate to your customers. Plan carefully and get feedback from your customers.
3. Use buddy marketing to promote your business. If you send out a brochure you could include a leaflet or business card of another business that agreed to do the same for you.
4. Answer your phone differently. Try announcing a special offer and your customer will be compelled to ask about the offer.
5. Use stickers, stamps and handwritten notes on your daily business mail. The message should be short and concise. People will read it first.
6. Send a second offer immediately after a customer purchase and include an expiration date to create urgency.
7. Use newsletters to focus your marketing on past customers. It is six times harder to make a new sale than to an existing one. To keep cost down, try an email newsletter.
8. Host a seminar or open house. It is a great way to gain face with key customers and prospects as well as marketing your business name. For a seminar, charge a fee which gives the impression of value unlike free.
9. You can trade your product for advertising space or service with another company that also has a limited budget. This is another tool to promote your business and get others to use your product or service.
10. Enclose your flyers, ad, or brochure in all your outgoing mail. It doesn't cost more for postage and you may be surprised who could use what your offering.
